On Sunday, 4th October, Simon Green took part in the South Bucks 10k Road Race, raising £1,000 for the South Bucks Hospice.
Green Building Design Consultants are team members in the project to build a new facility for South Bucks Hospice in High Wycombe. The hospice aims to be the leading community resource for supporting patients and their families coping with many aspects of life limiting circumstances and bereavement. The project is set to have a major impact on the local community and provide South Bucks Hospice with room for expansion, bringing together two existing sites under one roof.
Green Building Design have designed mechanical and electrical services for the new building, which was funded by previous donations. The charity run will contribute towards the ongoing costs of running the facility.
The design team working with main contractor Jarvis Contracting wanted to help raise funds and all agreed to have at least one runner in the race. Simon Green volunteered to take part in the event, explaining; “When agreeing to run a few months ago it seemed like a good idea, now only a couple of days away, I am not so sure!”
The charity run took place on Sunday 4th October at Black Park Country Park in Slough. Simon impressively completed the first lap in 25 minutes and finished the race in 57 minutes despite having knee trouble.
Donations from customers, friends and family amounted to over £1,000 towards the hospice. “I am grateful to everyone who donated for supporting this cause to help those who are suffering. Hopefully my small amount of pain and discomfort will help to reduce some of the discomfort of others being cared for in the hospice”, concludes Green.
The building is scheduled to be completed by January 2017.
