Simon Green, founder of Green Building Design Consultants (GBDC), has grown the company from a single employee in 2001 to a headcount of 16 team members. In November 2014, Simon became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (FCIBSE) and a Chartered Building Services Engineer.
Having started his career as a JIB qualified electrician in 1985, Simon gained a BTEC HNC Building Services Certificate in 1989 followed by a BEng (Hons) in Building Services in 1994. He has been a Graduate Member of CIBSE since 1996. With extensive experience and having held senior positions in the industry for more than 20 years, Simon’s credentials were validated by CIBSE awarding him fellowship on his first application to become a full member.
“Becoming a Chartered member of the institute has been an ambition since my early days as a qualified engineer. The only reason not to apply earlier was that I have been focused on customer deadlines and on growing Green Building Design Consultants. To be awarded fellowship is a real privilege and I am looking forward to being more involved with the Institute. ”
As well as managing the company and putting engineering into practice, Simon gives lectures to major chartered surveying practices and the RICS on dilapidations from an engineering perspective. As a Fellow of CIBSE, Simon plans to become more involved with the institute in developing guidance to members about this specialist subject.
