Santander Consumer Finance are relocating their regional head office to this five storey, 47,000 sq ft office building in Redhill, Surrey. Previously Balfour Beatty’s regional office, the building is to be upgraded from Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating G to B. Green Building Design Consultants are designing and managing a complete overhaul of mechanical and electrical equipment, working with Opl Group, the fit-out and refurbishment company owned by Balfour Beatty plc.
The overall brief is to provide very energy efficient space using all new technologies, for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, power and data cabling.
All existing services will be removed before new equipment is installed throughout the building. Low energy features will include pipe fan coils in the ceiling void for heat exchange, a new ventilation system with heat recovery, new high efficiency LED lighting with daylight dimming and PIR controls to save energy when rooms are unoccupied. State-of-the-art power plant and data systems are also being chosen to keep energy usage to a minimum.
Santander are relocating from an existing head office, also in Redhill, which is to be redeveloped as part of Aviva and Sainsbury’s plans to introduce new retail and office space to Redhill town centre.
