After nearly 30 years as a practicing engineer, Simon Green submitted a long-overdue application for chartered membership of CIBSE in August 2014. Following the interview process, Simon was delighted to be told he has been made a Fellow of the Institute.
We are now pleased to announce that Simon Green’s Engineering Practice Report is to be published on the CIBSE website as an example, to support prospective members of the Institute during the application process.
“I was over the moon to be recognised with Fellowship and even more delighted when CIBSE asked to use the report as an example for candidates. Becoming a Chartered Member of the Institute has been an ambition since my early days as a qualified engineer. The only reason I did not apply earlier was that work – such as growing the business – got in the way.”
Simon has been a Graduate Member of CIBSE since 1996, having started as a JIB qualified electrician in 1985. This was followed by a BEng (Hons) in Building Services in 1994 and the formation of Green Building Design Consultants in 2001.
As well as managing the company, supervising major projects putting engineering into practice, Simon lectures on the subject of dilapidations to major surveying practices and the RICS. As a Fellow of the CIBSE, Simon plans to become more involved with the institute in developing guidance to members about this specialist subject.
